SSolo

R iding with your friends is always fun. Lots of smack-talkin' and such. But a solo ride is nice too. Just cruisin' along deep in your own thoughts, detoxing and processing all the crap that comes your way in this crazy fvcked up world.

I was listening to the Celtic-rock tunes of Ashley MacIsaac on my way to the trailhead. I have his 1995 disc "Hi How Are You Today" but don't really know what he's done since then. You probably remember this one, not his best but kinda cool.

I headed out from Nun's Corner, on my own schedule and at my own pace (read: sloooow). Little did I know this might be my biggest singlespeed ride of the season: Chamisa to Winsor to Pacheco Canyon Rd to Big Tesuque to Winsor to Borrego to Bear Wallow to Winsor to the bottom, to Burn to Juan to the car finally! Not as big as an easy day for a SS God like Sweetleaf, but a big day for me none-the-less.

How many times have I seen this landmark? At least one hundred, probably more.

The shuttle-monkeys have been busy on upper Winsor - every corner had huge skid marks, most of them leading off into the trees. Wish I could have witnessed the carnage!

The approach of Autumn cannot be ignored any longer:

Graffiti at altitude:

Lunch time at the Big Tesuque Cafe.

Cross the creek and start the climb up Borrego. A yellow ribbon - who is it for?

Time for the big descent. But I had to lock 'em up for this:

Shrooms Gone Wild!

I like rocks with stripes.

Almost home. Time to go into Stealth Mode.

I'm glad to say I made it home safely. And had a most enjoyable post-ride recovery meal at Bumblebee's Baja Grill!

Thanks for looking!
